About
Alt Bar Creative

Alt Bar Creative is a video production studio in Austin, Texas, but its story started years earlier in Queens, New York. With a passion for filmmaking and marketing Alt Bars founder Leo took a chance and moved to the big apple without knowing a single person.

It was in Queens that he began building a career around filmmaking, documentary work, and storytelling. Learning not just how to make something look good, but how to make it connect with the people watching. That path eventually brought him down south to Austin Texas, where Alt Bar Creative took shape.

Today, that same curiosity drives every project: to understand the audience, find the story that matters, and create something with a purpose. Because the best videos don’t start with cameras. They start with knowing what you want to say, who you want to reach, and why they should care.

That’s usually where we’re the right fit — ambitious founders, brands, and organizations who care about how their work looks and sounds, but want speed and smart use of budget over a slow agency process. Not the biggest names. The ones building something worth paying attention to.

Approach

Strategy

Before anything else: what does this video need to do? Who is it for, where will it live, and what should change once they’ve watched it? Sometimes that turns into a shoot. Sometimes it turns into a whole campaign.

Production

Pre-production through final delivery. Scripting, shooting, and post; all built around the strategy. We don't want to waste a second of time on set nor an ounce of creative momentum for your project.

Results

Delivery isn’t the end. We want to make sure the video is being optimized to meet its goals (views, retentions, signups, subscribers, etc). The only way to know whether the strategy hit the nail is to test and itterate.

Two-camera interview setup in a downtown Austin high-rise

We don’t start with ‘we need a reel.’ We start with what it needs to accomplish, who it’s for, and where they’ll encounter it. The right answer might be a brand film, twenty scrappy cutdowns, or a five-second phone video.

References are raw material, not a template to trace. We study what’s working, then push past the obvious first version. Trends are ingredients here, not instructions.

Pre-Production

Talent

This is where the budget actually goes on screen. Before anything is booked, we decide where the money is felt — location, lighting, sound, talent — and where it isn’t spent on things an audience never notices.

Polished and spontaneous aren’t opposites. Sometimes the craft is controlling every variable. Sometimes it’s staying out of the way of a real moment.

Repeat the result. Reinvent the process. The outcome stays dependable — what changes project to project is structure, pacing, and technique. If it worked once, we don’t rerun the exact playbook just because it worked.
